Eamon Ryan
TD, Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources
Minister Eamon Ryan was first elected to Dail Eireann in 2002. Prior to his appointment as Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, he was the Green Party spokesperson for Transport and Enterprise, Trade and Employment and opposition convenor on the Joint Oireachtas Committee for Communication, Marine and Natural Resources.
Prior to his election to the Dail he set up and ran two businesses, Irish Cycling Safaris and Belfield Bike shop. He was an active member and chairman of the Dublin Cycling Campaign, and from 1995 to 2002 he served on the Advisory Committee of the Dublin Transport Office.

Dr. Sean Baker
Chair, Irish Software Association
Dr. Sean Baker is an entrepreneur based in Dublin. He is a co-founder of IONA Technologies, and has held many executive positions in the company including CTO, Chief Scientist and VP of Applied Research. He is a regular speaker on middleware and related business issues. He is a member of the Boards of National Digital Research Centre, Delta Index and Gridstore; he is on the R&D Advisory Committee to the ICT Sector within ICT Ireland and is a member of the Advisory Science Council, CIO Ireland and the Lero and ICHEC Advisory Boards. He was a member of the Board of Havok and the Object Management Group. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin, and held a tenured post in the Department of Computer Science at TCD, where he helped form the Distributed Systems Group in 1980. He has published a number of books and articles in the area of distributed computing and application integration. He is a Fellow of the Irish Computer Society and of Engineers Ireland.

Philip Dawson
Vice President, Research, Gartner Research
Philip Dawson is a vice president in Gartner Research and specializes in virtualization and server selection. Mr. Dawson is a leading authority on virtualization of Linux, Unix and Windows infrastructure platforms. Virtualization and partitioning capabilities, portfolio consolidation, and rationalization processes are also key to his server virtualization coverage. He is also the co-author of the Server Evaluation Model, which selects servers by workload and aligns server technology platforms to business needs. Philip has spent 23 years in the IT industry, 10 of which have been with Gartner, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company.

Pol Mac Aonghusa

During his 20 year career in IBM, Pol has held key Management, Technical & Consultant positions in IBM's Software, Services and Industry divisions. He has worked with IBM's major clients around the world across multiple industry sectors. In his current position Pol is responsible for setting the technical strategy for new technology projects at the IBM Dublin Technology Campus. Current projects he is involved in include:
• An IBM Research program on Green Data Centre
• Extreme-scale Computing research into next generation super-computing
• The Dublin Cloud Computing Centre delivering Cloud Computing services to IBM clients worldwide
He is a regular speaker industry and academic conferences on innovative approaches and new business models associated with Innovation, Collaboration and Computing. Gary Barnett

Gary Barnett is a partner and CTO with the IT research company The Bathwick Group in the UK.
For the last ten years he has worked as an analyst and consultant, providing advice to end-user organisations on technology selection and IT strategy. He has also advised technology vendors and services companies ranging from the leading IT companies to start-ups on topics such as product strategy, competitive analysis and business planning.
Gary's current research interests include - SOA, Data Management, Globalisation, Green IT, Innovation, Business-focussed IT Strategy, the Role of the CIO, Legacy Modernization and Infrastructure.

Stephen McGibbon
Regional technology Officer for Western Europe, Microsoft
Stephen is responsible for leading Microsoft's technology policy engagement with government and academic leaders, focused on the social and economic development implications of future high impact technologies.
He has more than 15 year's software industry experience. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2004 he was IBM's Director of Lotus & IBM Linux Software (Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & McGibbon's previous roles in Lotus IBM included Director of Strategy (Europe Middle East Africa); Chief Technology Officer (UK & Eire); and Chief Architect (UK & Eire).A regular speaker at international conferences on a range of technical and technology policy issues, He sits on IT Policy Advisory Boards to several European Governments and is a professional member of the British Computer Society, the Association for Computing Machinery, the IEEE, IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Standards Association.

Professor Ron Perrott
Director, Belfast eScience Centre(BeSC), School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Queens University, Belfast
Ron Perrott's main career interests have been in software and its exploitation. As a result he has long term experience of involvement and working with local and national software companies in the IT sector. In 1994 he was awarded the British Computer Society's IT award for his contributions to the local software industry.
He is currently Director of the Belfast e-Science Centre which is one of 7 UK Centres established with Research Council and Department of Trade and Industry funding to promote the next evolution of the web into academia and industry - widely known as the grid and cloud computing. The Centre has established and developed a portfolio of collaborative projects with both academia and industry. These projects have included partners within the University and further afield, with local and national companies as well as number of European partners. The particular emphasis has been on media and finance.
In addition, he is Chairman of the UK's High End Computing Strategy Committee which advises the UK's Research Councils on strategic issues and policy initiatives in computing.

A seasoned executive with over 20 year's senior management experience in the ICT sector, the majority of Ben's career has entailed creating enterprise value through the development and application of research-derived technology innovations to address emerging market needs and opportunities. In addition to serial entrepreneurial leadership positions spanning both commercial and technological responsibilities with innovative enterprises, Ben's experience includes roles in research, industry research laboratory management, innovation management, software engineering management, product marketing management, and business development.
Ben has previously served as a member of the boards of several technology companies, and served as Chairman of the Wireless Sensor Network Industry Group for several years from its foundation. Ben is a graduate of both Trinity College, Dublin (BA Comp Sci, MSc Comp Sci) and UCD (MBA).

Attila Narin
Business Development Solutions Architect, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Attila Narin is technical at heart and loves innovation, building systems, playing with technologies, and working with customers. He has been with Amazon since October 2004. Before joining the AWS Business Development organization in Europe, he was one of the key members of the EC2 Team managing the design and delivery of many of the currently available EC2 features, and working with key customers and partners. Before EC2, he also worked on the Personalization team at Amazon.com.
Prior to Amazon, Attila has been with Microsoft for several years as a developer, development lead, and in an architect-type role. He worked on MSN, the Microsoft Reader, Digital Rights Management, and then on Bill Gates’ Executive Strategy Team building innovative prototypes. Before Microsoft, after getting his Computer Science degree at the University of Florida, he worked for a Dutch computer company out of the Caribbean.
Attila grew up in Germany, and since has enjoyed traveling and living in different places all over the world. So far he's lived in Germany, Florida (Melbourne and Gainesville), Curacao, Seattle, Cape Town, and now Luxembourg. He also spent extensive time in Turkey, Brazil, and Thailand. His hobbies, besides traveling and technology, include music, photography, good food and drinks, and spending time with his friends and family.

Joe Drumgoole
CEO, PutPlace.com & Consultant to National Digital Research Centre
Joe is a software entrepreneur with over 25 years of product development experience gained at companies like DEC, Nomura and Oracle. He has led the engineering teams at Irish start-ups CR2 and Cape Clear. In 2006 he founded PutPlace.com to provide online backup services for home users. PutPlace was one of the first companies in the world to embrace Amazon's Cloud Computing infrastructure. His latest start-up CloudSplit intends to leverage that experience by providing value added services on top of existing cloud computing platforms.

Niall Feely
Niall Feely, Director of Business Markets, eircom
Niall leads eircom’s SME division which supports 150,000 Irish SMEs. His experience in data -centre and Cloud Computing dates back to the late 90’s at Unisys New Zealand where he specialised in hosting and outsourcing large scale IT operations; and was involved in some early stage ASP projects. More recently he has been leading eircom’s plans to enter the SAAS market through the development of a suit of On-Demand services due to be launched in
Autumn ‘09.
Niall previously worked in Telecom NZ. He is a director of the Irish Internet Association, St Patrick’s Festival and Dublin Chamber of Commerce (where he is also Honorary Treasurer). Niall is a member of Chambers Ireland Digital Policy Council.

Gerry Power
Gerry Power, Consultant, Sysco
Gerry Power is currently chairing a working group on Cloud Computing for the Irish Internet Association which includes representatives from the major cloud computing vendors – Microsoft, Google, IBM, Oracle and Salesforce – and from Irish enterprise and midmarket businesses. Gerry has worked in the ICT sector since 1992 both in Ireland and the US and was recently contracted by Sysco to launch www.ReadyDynamics.com – Ireland’s first ERP as a Service offering leveraging the Microsoft Dynamics technology stack.

Tim Barker

Tim Barker is senior director of partner marketing at salesforce.com where he has responsibility for the strategic direction of the company’s on demand collaboration application. Tim joined Salesforce.com through its acquisition of Koral, where he was co-founder and vice president of products.
Prior to Koral, Tim worked at Benchmark Capital (Europe) as an Entrepreneur In Residence, where he co-founded and built a software company to help financial services firms manage their financial content and data. Prior to that Tim worked at Documentum and PwC in their Content Management & Collaboration divisions.
Tim has more than 15 years experience in product management & strategy within the enterprise software and services sector. Tim graduated from Kingston University, England with a BSc in Computer Science.

Ian Pratt
Vice President, Advanced Virtualization Products, Citrix Systems
Ian Pratt is vice president of Advanced Virtualization Products at Citrix Systems, and leader of the Xen project which he founded in 2001 with the aim of making virtualization ubiquitous on scale-out hardware. Ian has played a key role in both the architecture of Xen and the formation of industry partnerships that led to the emergence of Xen as the leading open source virtualization technology. He spearheaded the creation of Xen.org and now serves as chairman of the organization. Ian was a founder of XenSource, which built enterprise-class virtualization products based on Xen and was acquired by Citrix in 2007. He was previously a member of Senior faculty at the Computer Laboratory of Cambridge University, UK, where he led Systems Research for almost 10 years. Ian was also a founder of Nemesys Research, acquired by FORE Systems, and has consulted widely in the technology industry. He holds a PhD in Computer Science, and was elected a Fellow of Kings College in 1996.

David Cullen

David is a member of the Technology, Intellectual Property and the Biotechnology & Healthcare Groups in William Fry. He qualified as a solicitor in Ireland in 1993. He is also qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales and as a Community Trade Mark Attorney.
David specialises in advising on the strategic protection and development of intellectual property portfolios as well as technology issues. David has extensive experience in working with many leading Irish and multinational firms, advising on the impact of a wide and ever increasing range of laws relating to the use of Intellectual Property and Information Technology, including biotechnology, personality rights, event merchandising, data protection, freedom of information and electronic commerce.
